Revisiting "Young People and the Road Ahead"

How do you prepare a generation for some tough roads ahead? How do you educate this coming of age generation? I believe you do this by creating an informing atmosphere that promotes the tools to understand our government. I keep hearing that we are the voice and this is true but if we are the voice why are we so clueless on what to say and do for the success of this country? One day the people in those congress seats will be on there way to a retirement get away with the country in their rear view mirrors not caring what will become of us and this place we call home. Is it wrong of me to want better for my country? I find it very disturbing that my generation and the gyrations to come will be in a hole to deep to have any hope of return. How can we bounce back from the choices that have caused our country some problems. We don't have jobs its becoming harder and harder to pay for college to get a degree to even get the jobs. Why are their so millions of Americans with out jobs and why hasn't anyone felt a sense of urgency to fix the matter. It just seems like some of us will have and sorry for those who do not. Is this what the "New America" will be? Is this the type of structure the four fathers of America had in mind? Maybe I am just to naive to think that if someone cared enough about the people they are suppose to be taking care of maybe just maybe we wouldn't have government shutdowns , high rates of people without jobs and maybe just maybe it wouldn't cost you your whole life to get a degree that will benefit yourself and the country. Wake up young people this is our country too!

The Right Decision Against Iran

It is very hard to believe our government has our best interest in mind. I strongly believe every move and or decision made against any country has to do with personal gain. My question is what do we have to gain from trying to stop Iran. It all comes down to the dollar amount and what it will do for our country. America, Britain, France,China ,Russia and Germany are the big pons and to me are the big kids in the school yard trying to justify why they bully small kids. It seems as a country our government has a hidden motive that is always dressed up to be something else. Just imagine if the government was honest with us the citizens , I stand to believe that the government would loose all control. I don't believe Iran is as big of a threat as it is being projected to us. I think we have a specific interest in Iran because we have something to gain from it and when I say we I mean our government. Do you think the motives are more clouded than we are being told? What do each of these countries have to gain ti make them more ready to team up against Iran. I feel with government issues the story is deeper than what we are being told. A s citizens we are to believe what the government says and support their decision even if it is a decision that should not be made. Our government and citizens have grown so far apart it just seems we are living in one world and them in another. critique:

THE SCALE OF THE BUDGET DIVIDE

It's safe to say that if America doesn't act fast we could be on the road away from a nation that was once the greatest to a nation of nothing in my opinion. The U.S Gov't is still trying to figure out the best possible solution to get the national budget under control. All I hear is a bunch of greedy politicians trying to keep their own wealth safe and could care less about the nation and this issue at hand. The debt ceiling was temporarily raised and set to reopen on Dec. 13 to decide on a different budget then the one passed earlier this year. Historical averages dated back to 1994 when Clinton was in office. Clinton's budgets formed left the deficit spending at 0.1% but honestly the country was in a different place at that time. Even being young I may not have understood a lot but I know it was never this bad. Rather than each party working together for the good of the nation it seems to be geared towards a different goal now. Over a 40-year period the congressional budget office had 3.0% deficit and gov't spending was at 20.4% and revenue of 17.4%. The most current law has a deficit of 2.9% and 21.1% in gov't spending and 18.3%. The House Republican budget by Rep.Paul D. Ryan leaving the deficit 0.6%and the gov't spending at 18.8% and revenue of 18.2%. My question is why can't we learn from the past systems and see what worked and how it can benefit our nation today. Instead of putting our nation in more debt and making it very hard for my generation to recover. If there was something I could to do or rally up enough citizens to make a change instead of leaving our future in the hands of rich politics who will be rich long after their term regardless of what the outcome will be. It is time to make a stand!

Young People and The Road Ahead

Did You Know? Young people ranging from age 20-34 years of age are jobless, the highest rate seen. It evident that it is taking students longer to graduate. I feel that the author is speaking to the vast majority in the 20-34 age group. He argues that the road to success is becoming a more difficult task. Sadly scientific polls are showing that there has been a decline in young people working and has been the lowest drop in percentage. The author is making his statement clearly from the most current statistics. It is becoming harder for students to graduate and while it is taking students longer to graduate schools are becoming outrageously expensive. A high school diploma will not get you a job and in this day and age a bachelors degree is not enough to get a job. This decline is also decreasing the rate in which this 20-34 age group is marrying and starting families, which would me a steady job. And young people are shying away from it all. The author states that the baby boomers are living longer and are therefore still utilizing jobs that could be given to this 20-34 generation but instead the baby boomer generation is still working and living. I feel this article is asking a clear questions, how is the economy suppose to thrive and survive if we cant even fuel it with job availability. Why over charge students to complete school and require higher degrees but no job to pay for the schooling. It seems the basic essentials to success are becoming farther out of reach. Young adults are worrying less about maintaining a job and more about living and cherishing their time with their family. I feel this author was very informative and this is a valid article with statistics that show no matter what has taken place jobs are becoming more more harder to come by. And these statistics show this generation is starting to care less about it all. I feel this article needs to be published and shine light on these specific issues because this issue affects my generation. Were told we are the future but if we don't address the issue now this downward spiral will persist and our economy will grow much weaker than what it already is.Read this Link http://money.cnn.com/2013/10/22/news/economy/young-workforce-delay/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Suprem Court To override Contributions

Until recently demonstrators "United Ruling are requesting to allow donating to any campaign candidates. Financing candidates without any limits to how much could be donated. President Obama is against removing the cap on amounts. That would mean any individual could donate to any candidate over a million dollars. This to me could be very negative as undue influenced could boost a candidate through the pose more so on funds verses the role and influence the candidate has their race for candidacy. I feel this comes at no great time for the republican party to make there stride to the finish line off of who contracts the most donations and those donations could make the difference in the race and poles. President Obama is stressing that this should not be taken lightly and the supreme court should not rule in its favor to allow any amount in donations. Solicitor General Donald Verilli, representative of the Obama Administration also urging Supreme Courts to uphold the limits and prevent what he calls "massive contrubutions". Justice Stephen Breyer states that this case should be returned to lower court systems to develop more evidence on this proposal. -New York Times, By; Adams Liptak

Improving Performance and Accountability

It is most certain that the American people feel the government have not done a good job to get our nation on track. And maybe we feel this way because we are un informed and when we are informed it is relayed and delayed by the media. I to must admit that it has crossed my mine several times if the the government have taken any action to improve our budget and find a solution to maintain a healthy nation. I stumbled upon this article that clearly states that the national government have put a goal in place to improve the Federal Government. For instance the FY2013 budget a two-year agency priority, focused on strategic goals and leadership. The administrations have also set priority for cross -agencies such as focusing on exports, entrepreneurship and creating small businesses, it is also focused on energy efficiency, veteran career readiness, technology, engineering, cyber security just to name a few. Our nation is still growing I believe if we all stay informed and become an active part of our national and federal government, we will all be appreciative of everyones role in our nation.
We must get involved!
